Global Thermoelectric Announces Board and Executive Appointments

CALGARY, Aug. 13 /CNW/ - Global Thermoelectric Inc. ("Global") today
announced the appointment of Peter Garrett to the Board of Directors, in
addition to his previously announced promotion to President and CEO.
As part of a reorganization of the technology and engineering functions
within Global, Dr. Brian Borglum has been appointed to the position of Vice
President, and Chief Technology Officer.
In his new role Dr. Borglum will assume responsibility for Advanced
Materials and Stack Technology development. Brian holds a Doctor of Philosophy
in Ceramic Engineering and has 14 years experience with the research and
development of solid oxide fuel cells and semiconductor devices. He has been
with Global as the Director of Advanced Materials since July of 2001 and
previously held a variety of progressively more senior leadership roles with
Siemens Westinghouse, a major fuel cell developer.
In related organizational changes, Global today announced the appointment
of Mr. Eric Neary as Vice President of Engineering. Mr. Neary will be
responsible for the development of fuel cell system components and
technologies as well as System Testing and Field Trial operations. Mr. Neary
has 21 years of leadership experience in managing engineering, system test,
field trial and customer service operations in a variety of engineering and
fuel cell development organizations. Eric has been with Global since March of
2002 as the Director of Engineering and previously worked with Ballard Power
Systems, a major fuel cell developer.
These organization changes coincide with the resignation of Dr. Dave
Ghosh to pursue other opportunities effective August 31, 2002.
