I called 1/2 dozen local Radio Shacks, and averaging the responses to get "in the direction of the real truth", found that the A500 has not been released to Radio Shack yet but should be out within one or two weeks, in fact the Sanyo 4900 is the only Vision handset released to Radio Shack so far. The consensus is more and more handsets will be coming out, including low cost 1x voice only handsets. An integrated camera handset is at least one or two months out. All of the current Vision handsets are GPS enabled, but GPS hasn't been turned on outside of Rhode Island where testing is still going on. The sense I got is that the Vision rollout is going to be gradual, but continuous, and hit full stride well before Christmas.

I suspect, darkly, that as 1X handsets are being made in the far East, the United States has abdicated its self sufficiency, particularly in things like mass produced miniaturized cameras, and thus has to wait in line for the collective Asian alpha dog to satisfy its own demand.
