You could be right. Bush's speechmaking was.... amazing. Reminiscent of the "special kids" that bag at our local grocery store.

It left quite an impression on a lot of people.

Some people just aren't good speakers, and he has gotten somewhat better, since he's been in office.

Remember that more people voted for his opponent, than voted for him. Ah, the glories of an electoral college system. The last election was basically "Forest Gump" vs. "the Rain Man", and a few more Americans voted for the rain man, than Forest, but they gave it to Forest, anyway. Some justices will do just about anything to gain the chief justice position.
