Unless this company releases a Macintosh version of their video-editing program, I don't think anyone need be worried. Most video editing professionals favor Macintoshes, and the prospect that those users will dump their Macs and flock to Linux for a no-name video editing program, is only slightly more ridiculous than en masse move to Linux you seem to be anticipating. And the $10,000 software figure you cite seems equally as fictional as the $2,500 Windows entry-level machine price that you apparently no longer mention.
