First, you are trying to equate, the private ownership of a gun, with Iraq having Nuclear weapons. They are NOT the same. Further, "ALL the gun toters" I know, support keeping possession of a gun, illegal for convicted felons (and the mentally unstable) - even the NRA.
Second, you try to claim that Saddam is being cornered into developing nuclear weapons, that either its death (or jail) or getting nuclear weapons, and you ask me to "Put yourself in Saddam's shoes, what would you do?"...
No One is forcing Saddam to develop weapons of mass destruction. Nobody is forcing Saddam to starve Iraqis. Rather than buy food and medicine (only) with his oil money, he's letting people starve - until he can purchase dual use items. Nobody "made" Saddam, force the UN Arms Inspectors to leave Iraq, and suspend the verification program.

If I were in Saddam's shoes, I would live up to my international agreements.
If I were in Saddam's shoes, I would work out a deal so that I could abdicate, and live out the rest of my natural llife with my Billions, on the French Riveria (with ski trips to Switzerland).
I do not identify with Saddam's need to remain the dictator of Iraq, nor his need to develop nuclear weapons. Do you? |
