Arab world looks the other way as race-based hatreds target it on two fronts
Reading the cover story of a recent issue of Time magazine, one would be excused for concluding that the Arabs are wholly responsible for the worldwide upsurge of anti-Semitism. The Arab world today, according to Time, is not only the prime region where crude anti-Semitism is rampant complete with an array of conspiracy theories blaming Jews for everything but the Arabs are twice responsible for the upsurge of anti-Semitism in Europe. According to the magazine, Arab immigrants are the main culprits in the spate of anti-Semitic attacks on Jewish synagogues and cemeteries in Europe. Additionally, the "lawlessness and incivility" in the areas occupied mainly by Arab immigrants in France and other European countries is also responsible for the rise of anti-immigrant far-right parties in Europe.
While these parties have anti-Semitic inclinations, Time opines that this tendency is not inherent in these movements, which are mere expressions of "nationalism" and anti-immigrant feelings. It quotes one Jewish leader as saying that many Jews vote for these far-right parties precisely because they are anti-Arab. Consequently, if Arabs didn't exist, anti-Semitism would be banished for good. [...]
