MW - Mr G didn't even realise how bad things were becoming when he adressed Congress only a few days ago. The market clearly knew.

He has been a classic too little too late man which is translated as wisdom and caution.

He put up intrest rates in early 2000 when he should have reduced them and reduced them hard and fast and if he had we might not now be incipiently heading over the cliff into deep recession and dragging the rest of the World economy with us.

It didn't have to be this bad. I think even the Treasury Secretary is slowly waking up to relasie that something is not right with the economy. I doubt he thought muchj about it while he was on his junket around Africa pandering to an ageing rock star. But I bet he is just beginning to wonder now.

And GW is going to make his nzame in American History. It is going to write large but not perhaps for the reason he would ahve preferred. He is already being compared to Herbert Hoover by comentators on TV. That will start to stick especially as people start to get the reports on their pension plans.

And poor old Q has to finally get 1X launched now of all times.

Its a bit like turning up for a beach holiday in Normandie on the 6th June 1944.

Best,

L
