Satmex IV to be launched during first quarter of 2003

MEXICO CITY, Aug 12, 2002 (El Economista/Corporate Mexico by Internet Securities, Inc. via COMTEX) -- Satélites
Mexicanos (Satmex) continues to make advances in the satellite market and it is about to finish the construction of its fourth
satellite, Satmex IV, with Loral Sace Systems. The company is now planning to conquer the U.S. and South American
markets.Roberto Betancur, Satmex's Satellite Programs director, said Satmex IV would be operating during the first quarter of
next year and would have a life span of 18 years. The satellite will have 60 active channels and 20 reserve channels and will offer
digital services for cable TV, telecommunications, Internet, video conferences and voice transmission systems.The satellite will
cost US$300 million. The company is expecting to obtain 200 more users and compete with a better service and coverage.
