| Unfortunately, marvelous Kelly (who should, indeed, win overall) over- shouted "Walk on By", and thus her performance suffered on interpretation. Though full- throated passion is a plausible take on the song, it is really poignant and vulnerable, and should be sung as such. Nikki gave the worst performance of her run, Tamyra was weak on phrasing and sometimes lost the melodic line, and Justin does not seem able to transcend his "Up with People"- ish take on everything. Oddly enough, considering that I thought him most vulnerable to ejection, RJ did the best job with his rendition of "Arthur's Theme", which, despite occasionally over- mannered wobbles, he sang with authority....... |
