Re : how low US Treasury yields -- the big wild card is the whole "mortgage convexity" buying.

I just heard a rumor that : a little further down on 10-yr yields, and Fannie Mae will need to buy $76 billion (yes, billion with a "B") of 10 year notes, just to keep things "okay" with their finances.

On the other hand, everyone "knows" interest rates are going lower now (because after missing a 200 basis point run on short term interest rate futures since April ... NOW Goldman Sachs is an expert on how interest rates should go down (!)) ...

So, I would expect that everyone will soon "get their heads handed to them," and then we will see where rates settle out ...
