Technical and creative services Liberty Livewire Corp. appointed Kenneth Williams to the role of chief operating officer. In his new position Williams will be responsible for all of the company's product and service offerings in the U.S., Europe and Asia. He will also drive Liberty Livewire's efforts to bring next-generation digital services to the media and entertainment industries.

Williams was previously president of Technicolor Digital Cinema, the joint venture between Technicolor and Qualcomm, where he was responsible for the worldwide commercial rollout of digital cinema systems. He also directed research, product development and service enhancements.

He also has held a senior executive position at Stan Lee Media. Williams joined that digital entertainment studio company after 18 years with Columbia Pictures and Sony Pictures Entertainment.

Williams also co-founded Sony Pictures Imagework. His career at SPE culminated as president of the Digital Studios Division.

He will report directly to CEO Bill Fitzgerald. "During Ken's 20-year career, he has been actively involved in the media services business and the evolution of digital technology in the entertainment industry, which made him a natural for this position and our company," Fitzgerald said.
