Hi Jay - I think we are seeing a debt-deflation spiral downward again (or, in the case of Japan, still.)

I am out of it completely. Except for the mortgage on our house, which we don't expect to sell for at least 20 years, we have zero debt. The interest rate on the house is at 6%, and with the nice fat tax deduction the US gives on mortgage interest, our monthly payments after tax are far less than comparable rentals.

Is the world crashing all around me? I dunno. My husband has a cushy job in Washington, and I am staying busy (not so busy in August, but that's the way it always is. Nobody needs or wants a lawyer in August, but after Labor Day, Katy bar the door.)

I see "help wanted" signs everywhere I go. That's a big change from the last couple of years.
