A good sheriff.

A good sheriff lets the outlaw draw first. The terrorists hit us on 9/11, and we went after them. They caught us with out pants down. We're dedicated to exterminating them all and righteously so.

Saddam has been warned. If he draws first or makes proven moves on us, then he is doomed because the fire power we can bring down on him will decimate him. He may be crazy, but he's not that dumb.

If we go after Saddam first strike, we must accept the danger that Muslim world masses will turn on us. The Muslims, which I had little knowledge of, seem to have a propensity for starting vendettas and blood feuds that never end? How much the extremists of their faith will draw in the moderates out of fear remains a question to be worried about. Warring over perceived insults to honor and pride is a tough thing for Americans to digest.

The old saying: "If you mess with the Devil, he will mess with you." may prevail. The enemy also understands this. Martyrdom has never been part of our Western World attitude. Traditionally we honor our heroes who gave their lives for liberty, freedom and their fellows, but not for everlasting revenge. Time and patience will cool the situation down while he is kept in check, but in a showdown all know we will win.

One would hope that the despot will ultimately choke on his own bile as the rest of his neighbors become bored by his barking like a vicious dog behind a fence. They are the closest to him and like Iran and the Kurds have already suffered from his violent nature.
