AMI DODUCO Awarded Outsource Assembly Business biz.yahoo.com EXPORT, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 15, 2002--AMI DODUCO announced it was chosen by one of its major electrical contact customers to produce on an outsource basis a number of contact assemblies used in industrial circuit breakers. These assemblies, previously produced at the customer's plant will now be produced at AMI DODUCO's Export, Pennsylvania facility.
Contact assemblies consist of an electrical contact brazed to a metal backing. The electrical equipment manufacturer has decided to outsource this brazing process in order to create additional floor space for the production of new circuit breaker products. AMI DODUCO was chosen for its extensive experience and market leadership in producing brazed assemblies.
"We have targeted outsourcing business as a major growth area," said Gerard P. Gorman, President of Global Business Units for AMI DODUCO. "Many customers are increasingly focusing on their core competencies of developing and marketing final products rather than producing the components that go into them. They realize that by outsourcing some of their non-core operations they can reduce their capital base and allow them to redeploy their human assets, and eliminate training costs. As the world's largest electrical contact producer, and with our unique end-to-end production capabilities, we are in the best position to provide complete assemblies to support these efforts."
Headquartered in Export, Pennsylvania, AMI DODUCO, a Technitrol Company (NYSE:TNL) is a global leader in electrical contact technology and fabrication. The company supplies contacts and assemblies, contact materials, thermostatic and laminated metal products, electroplating and surface treatment services, and precious metal refining and recycling to more than 3,000 customers.
