thanks for that article! fascinating.

and sad. Agere -- once part of Lucent, once part of the AT&T/Bell Labs empire -- is one of the companies that INVENTED the optoelectrics biz. I remember reading about very early experiments in the field it was working on back in 1987.

I suppose I should be happy BKHM has one less competitor, but it also means in this field even the smartest and richest and biggest competitors can fail. Anyway I look at it, Agere's failure is not uniformly good news.
