Bob -- you make so many little points -- it is hard to see that it adds up to anything. The reason why we don't have mandatory expensing of options already is that tech companies like CSCO paid and pressured politicians in Washington -- people like JC personally stand to lose money from this. He has no credibility on the issue -- none. He spews confusion and misinformation. The information is NOT available now -- there is not even an agreed upon approach let alone an agreed upon method. FAS 123 as a "standard", if you can call it that, is so deeply flawed that it is not a basis for a real standard. The standards must be designed from a clean sheet of paper and they should be driven by principle. For you or anybody else to say that the information is there is 100% pure unadulterated baloney -- that is the kind of doublespeak which reminds us that some of the worst elements of the "new economy" bubble have not yet been dealt with. From a technical standpoint it is not that complicated. There are always implmentation issues but they are relatively minor and nothing profound stands in the way of a premium-based standard. The political issues are also mostly behind us. It will get dealt with. And it will have an impact. And it won't take that long.
