Philly Fed survey shows declining factory activity By Rex Nutting Manufacturing activity in the Northeast declined in August, the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia reported Thursday. The Philly Fed's index of manufacturing activity fell to -3.1 from 6.6 in July. It's the first negative reading since December. Economists were expecting the index to rise to about 7.3.<< Someone needs to tell Rex Nutting to get the lead out!
