Friedman's argument is that there are structural differences between Pakistan and India which make the Muslims in India less likely to pick up a shovel for Al Qaeda. He uses the name "globalization" to cover those structural differences. It has gone by other names in the past: modernization, etc.

Yes, I do agree, in essence, with Friedman's argument.
