Maybe, but their biggest problem towards the end was that they were losing so many pilots, it was bleeding their airforce.

When the Brits lost a plane, if the pilot bailed out, was often flying the next day. But if you were German, you became a POW for the duration.

But most historians acknowledge the Germans were on the verge of putting the RAF on the ropes by bombing their airdromes and aircraft factories. But then there was the raid on Berlin and the Germans responded by bombing cities instead.

Brilliant, if not Machiavellian, strategy by Churchill.. Goading the Germans into bombing London in order to give the RAF a breather, at the expense of the British people.
