By the way, a little trivia here is that the adjacent lands to these Wal-Marts and Targets are sold by Wal-Mart and Target to the developer. The sales goes with strings attached such as no Sears, Penney, Gaps, etc. in those strips.

Interesting! Retailing really is one part real estate developer, it seems. As I say we have Gap corporate out here and when they first piloted Old Navy one reason they could sell the clothes for so cheap was the real estate considerations- no malls for old navy, if you go to a mall its gap or banana republic only. But as you say, malls are becoming passe.
