Egyptian beheaded; Hands of Afghan, Syrian amputated in Saudi Arabia
An Egyptian man convicted of murder was beheaded Wednesday, the Saudi Interior Ministry said. Al-Hayel al-Sayed Mohammedain was found guilty of murdering Abdeen Mahmoud Mohammed, another Egyptian, by hitting him on the head with an ax, and of stealing his wallet, a ministry statement said.

Mohammedain was executed in the eastern city of Dammam, bringing to 31 the number of people executed this year in Saudi Arabia, according to The Associated Press.

Meanwhile, also on Wednesday, in two separate cases, an Afghan and a Syrian-Egyptian each had his right hand amputated after being found guilty of pick-pocketing in Islam's holiest shrine in Mecca, the ministry said.

Mohammed Nabi Rostum, an Afghan, and Ahmed Akash Abdul Kader, from Syria, stole from worshippers in the Grand Mosque in Mecca, the ministry stated. It did not say when the crimes had been committed, but said their hands were amputated in Mecca. (Albawaba.com)
