Carl, what do you consider the conventional wisdom about Iraq to be?

Not being argumentative, simply not sure what the CW is.

By the way, I'd say CW probably varies from group to group. I'm not sure there is any such thing as CW here.

Like me, you probably find the dot-confecting around here amusing. The conclusions which are drawn from bits and pieces of dubious information can be really amazing. I thought the best recent example was the breathless claim that Arafat and Hamas were fighting Al Qaeda in behalf of the US--now, that was a hoot.

Dot-confecting which is not intellectually rigorous leads to bad thinking and false CW. It's negatively affecting the quality of the discussion here

My version of the CW, FWIW:

1.- We're going in sooner rather than later, i.e, sometime this year instead of next.

2.- Britain and Turkey will help overtly while other ME states will do so covertly in order not to inflame their domestic populations.

3.- It will be a cakewalk.

That's it, my version of CW.
