Maybe, maybe not. There are plenty of folks around the world who resent the success of the US, but there are still many places in Europe, even in Germany, where the old-timers have very warm feelings toward the US for the compassion and generosity shown by the US post-WWII.

I think that a growing problem for the US now is that a declining minority of people around the world remember WWII and the incredible courage and selflessness of the American people.
