so you seem to be agreeing here that the US is an evil empire like the Soviet Union once was.

Why are you so obsessed with the word "evil"?

Here is my statement:

The hardest possible thing to do was to state that the U.S. and the Soviet Union were competing empires, both trampling on the rights of the rest of the world.

That is "sneaky"? LOL! The only thing sneaky here is your insertion of the word "evil".
