*OT* Has a player EVER given back (any portion of..) long-term salary when he has signed a big fat deal based on one-year's production (numbers that the player never, ever came close to acheiving again?)

Problem with whole thing is...there are 3 sets of stakeholders (owners, players, and fans) and, even assuming all 3 should be equally weighted, the 3rd set of stakeholders (fans) have had no place at table in debate. Scary that Bud Selig is representing "our" interests.

Being a KC Royals fan, it is sad to see how mid-market cities have little chance (unless they do everything right) under the current system. Baseball is largely disinteresting now for fans from about 12-15 teams (you know your team will just rebuild, and rebuild)

If baseball never recovers, it serves (owners, players) right. TV ratings for older games (repeats) would likely be as strong as new, so whatz the difference? ng,g

You ever watch ESPN Classic, and how skinny and unathletic baseball players used to be? g (Hal McRae and his fat arsh aside gg)
