This just in: The U.S. attorney's office in Florida has expanded its probe into alleged Medicare fraud at the Liberty Medical division of PolyMedica (NasdaqNM:PLMD - News) to include possible obstruction of justice and improper revenue recognition. The new disclosure is included in the company's 10-Q, filed Wednesday. Prior disclosures mentioned only Medicare fraud.

The company also for the first time disclosed that other U.S. attorney's offices are joining in the probe. According to the latest disclosure, Liberty Medical has now received an "administrative subpoena" from the U.S. attorney's office for the Southern District of Illinois "seeking documents relevant to an ongoing investigation of Medicare reimbursement of 'depth shoes and inserts.'" Liberty says that it "has been informed that it is not a target of that investigation." The U.S. attorney's office declined to comment.
