we need new paradigms and Malthus is outdated. WAAAY outdated. So quoting him just propagates / keeps old/dead paradigms alive.

Malthus is an example of a linear extrapolation of today's situation into the future. Society and the world need something better now, on a different plane.

Not that I would have any practical suggestions right away. But otoh "we are one and the same", created equal - read the rest of american constitution - is not a bad start, not a bad one at all.

Problem starts - of course - when / because we (I) have to do something about it. Giving to charity is a cop-out. Giving in to the fact, one lets others (color of skin, language, mores) in to make their living next to us, is another thing and, by my experience (I'm very much normal in Gaussian sense), hard to accept. BUT, that's my (not their) problem.
