Yes, one of the comforting things at my age is that I'm not likely to be around to see more radical change. <gg>

On the "Thou shalt not kill" thing -- Actually I could see a harried, overworked morality committee pushing the envelope a bit on that. Did you ever see "Soylent Green"? I think it was Edward G. Robinson's last movie (not a particularly good one). As I remember it, in the futuristic society there are places where the elderly go when it is time for them to stop living for the good of an overpopulated society. And it may be that they then contribute to the dwindling food supply (hence the title) although I am not sure about that.

Anyway, even though it's rather a bad movie ... the scenario is not like ... totally ridiculous. Do you think?
