One of the codes of multiculturalism is to have respect for other cultures; but that hardly means to stop being critical of horrific practices

John, once you adopt the codes of multiculturism, where each act can only be rightly judged only in its own cultural context, what basis do you, coming from a different cultural context, have to call any practice horrific? Was it not absolute cultural imperialism when the British banned slavery and suttee in India?

There are, perhaps, a few sophomoric types who adhere to the notions you present.

...and many more who reflect them unwittingly. Worse, they turn them into policy, even as every third world dictator learns how useful it is to claim cultural uniqueness for his most repressive policies.
