Little Joe, sorry if the sentence's construction was confusing. Might have better read: "the commercials reduced their short positions by two thousand contracts to a total net short of 29,300. This total (29K) represents 20% of the total open interest" In Silver's case the net short commercial position is equal to 50% of the total open interest....This is down from about 70% at the recent market top.
