On the Georgia and Pankisi Gorge front things are not going too well

The program, which began in April, is designed to create four anti-terrorist battalions with a total of 2,000 soldiers. Within 18 months they must be fit to combat militant fighters active in Georgia, particularly in the Pankisi Gorge area, which Washington believes may be a refuge for rebels with links to al-Qaida.
