this linux thing has me really intrigued right now. ibm, rhat, sunw all have their own branded linux offerrings. is it that easy to develop a operating system equal to or better than msft's? guess so.

as long as they all port to a common standard this is very good for the industry because they will be able to communicate with one another. oh, another thing, is loosens the stranglehold of the msft's monopoly. as someone said, linux is doing to msft what the attorney general would not.

open standards such as linux are the future of the internet. i still do not understand msft's strategy not to be part of this community. msft is the last holdout and every day they do not convert to this realization of open standards is one more day they are going to be further behind when open standards are the standard.

also, msft is shooting itself in the foot with this idiotic pricing scheme they have deployed. you never, never, never give a customer a reason to look at alternative product(s). guess what, msft just did that to themselves. there are alternatives out there that will satisfy the needs of many corporate and consumer customers and msft will lose that portion of the market. dumb and dumber at msft are NOT the geniuses you think they are.

have you ever seen a dog drool just before he is about to get fed. well, that what companies like ibm, sunw, orcl, beas, sap are doing right now. the feeding time is coming; its just a matter of time.

rocky.
