That explains how over $3 trillion were lost on the Nasdaq exchange in 2000! By the end of 2000, CA's energy crisis was 6 months old, Nasdaq had its worst year ever, the Dow had its worst year since 1981, and the S&P 500 had its worst year since 1977. GDP had 2 or three straight quarters of decreasing GDP growth. And someone was complaining that Al Gore, didn't run his campaign emphasizing that it was the best economy in 50 years.

Maybe, GWB didn't have to talk down the economy, maybe it was falling apart by itself. Does it bother you that the President in 2000, didn't seem to worry about the economy, or take any action given the events of 2000?
