Lawrence, your post was an EYE OPENER for me. I live in Pennsylvania with a flat tax of 2.8% of all income (with very few exceptions...Social Security and Pension income are the only forms of income not taxed). Anyway, I am a FREQUENT trader in a taxable account. I SERIOUSLY would MOVE if I lived in a state that took 12%. I realize that you probably have a job and roots there, but, unfortunately, people with even moderate means need to "shop states" to see where the most tax-effecient place is to live. As much as I hate paying $4000 per $100,000 of house value (property taxes here are outrageous), it's better than paying 12% of income! Thanks for the eye opener!
