SOUTHFIELD, Mich.--(BW HealthWire)--July 18, 1997--American
Dental Technologies, Inc. (ADT) announced today that it has signed a
letter of intent with Continuum Electro-Optics, Inc. (Continuum), a
manufacturer of medical and dental lasers. The parties intend to
enter into a non-exclusive license of ADT's U.S. Patents 5,257,935
and 5,342,198 for the use of Erbium Yag lasers in dental procedures
on hard tissue. Additionally, the companies intend to enter into a
distribution agreement under which ADT would distribute a Continuum
produced Erbium Yag laser for use in hard tissue dental applications
such as cavity preparations. Continuum is a subsidiary of Hoya
Corporation USA, which is wholly owned by Hoya Ltd. of Japan.
"In our opinion, Continuum has the best Erbium Yag lasers
presently distributed on the world market and is the leader in that
technology. We are pleased that Hoya, Ltd., a two billion dollar
company, has recognized ADT's basic patent position in the use of
Erbium Yag lasers for hard tissue in dental procedures and look
forward to working with them in the future. This addition will
complement our current line of dental lasers which ADT manufactures
for soft tissue procedures such as laser curettage to treat
periodontal disease," said Ben Gallant, President and CEO of
American Dental Technologies, Inc.
American Dental Technologies, headquartered in Southfield,
Michigan, develops and manufactures advanced technologies for
dentistry and markets them worldwide. It is listed on the Nasdaq
SmallCap Market under the symbol ADLI.
