Lucent Wins Four Deals in China

BEIJING -- Lucent Technologies (NYSE: LU - message board) today announced a series of optical contracts with a combined total of $15 million to supply state-of-the-art optical networking systems to carriers in China's Shanghai, Guangdong and Zhejiang regions.
Lucent will be providing systems Shanghai Telecom, Guangdong Unicom, Zhongshan Telecom and Zhejiang Telecom. These contracts demonstrate Lucent's strong established position in China's optical networking equipment market and Lucent's growing momentum in China's eastern and southern regions.

The announced contracts include:
-- Lucent will supply Shanghai Telecom with the LambdaUnite(TM) MSS, WaveStar(R) DACS 4/4/1, and other multiservice metro access systems to help support network expansion in Shanghai.
-- Lucent will provide Guangdong Unicom with the WaveStar(R) ADM 16/1 and WaveStar(R) AM1Plus to support its local SDH network, expanding network capacity to cover the cities of Zhanjiang, Maoming, Yangjiang and Jiangmen in Guangdong Province.
-- Lucent will provide Zhongshan Telecom with the WaveStar(R) TDM 10G SDH transport system for Zhongshan's 10G transport network project. We will also provide the WaveStar(R) DACS 4/4/1 digital cross-connection equipment and network management systems from the Navis(TM) Optical Management Solutions family.
-- Lucent will also help Zhejiang Telecom build its local network in Wenzhou by providing the WaveStar(R) ADM 16/1, WaveStar(R) ADM 16/1Compact, WaveStar(R) AM 1 Plus and network management systems. |
