When you read both Haaretz and NY Times, you become aware how much of the Time's Mideast coverage is an echo of Haaretz'(edit: The NY Times' pro-Labor slant is more overt than Haaretz', and that is saying something).

Mitza (who seems a competent mayor) has suddenly charmed the dispirited left -- wow, a candidate who is not a proven failure or an embarrassment! what a concept. So naturally, the Times will play him up, though I would give Mitzna even odds with Ralph Nader for winning their next elections. The Israelis are in no mood to surrender, and that is what Mitzna proposes.

If the noise about him becomes troublesome to Sharon, Sharon will call elections. Then we will see how many votes Labor can actually get.
