You may remember the option was not use force or forget about it. The option was use force or use sanctions. No idea whether sanctions would have worked.

Sanctions havent worked to pressure Iraq to allow weapons inspectors....why in the world would they have worked in trying to get him out of Kuwait? His position would have been strengthened with the extra oil that he would have had under his control.

The record of sanctions has been absolutely terrible. It seems to be a nice way of saying that we are doing something when in fact we are doing very little.

I think we only need to look at Cuba for it's most extreme failure.
