so for the novelty of it I chose vegetarian

When I used to fly American regularly, I always ordered the low sodium meal. (I was actually on a sodium restricted diet at the time.) For some reason, it was always beef tenderloin, baked potato, and a nice steamed veggie. It always turned heads when served. I saw a vegetarian meal being served once. It was a roll, apple, and banana slipping and sliding around the tray. I knew I got the better part of that menu.

I don't know what they're doing now. I didn't realize they even served meals anymore. Just warning you that you might want to slip some peanut butter crackers in your purse.
