John, this is lame. Krugman's words were 'a $12 million gift' to 'a sitting governor.' In quotes. Therefore, it is perfectly fair for Bush's partners to point out that he was a private citizen at the time. They make no claim about Bush having no political connections.

As for the the $12 million not being a gift, all I am saying is that even Bush's detractors acknowledge that Bush was doing real work for the team, not just sitting around providing connections. Thus the money was compensation for work provided. You may think it was way too much, but that's a different story.
