My interest in art is limited. And my interest in exploring various cuisines is virtually nonexistent. Those seem to be areas where physical presence is important. My interests are well satisfied by living in a small community containing many very bright and fascinating people, with a ready supply of books and music.

And I would dispute your use of the term connectedness -- I am more connected here in many ways that I was in the city, since I see the same people in a variety of situations, so get more connected to them. In the city, I would see person A in his or her political mode, person B in theater mode, person C in music mode, etc. Mostly uni-faceted. Here, I see the same people, in a variety of situations so I can appreciate their richness and diversity.
