JERUSALEM: A group of US police are due to arrive in the Middle East, to discuss tactics used by Israel to deal with Palestinian resistance, and to discuss how to implement such tactics in the United States.

The nine-member delegation, due to arrive Monday, includes high-ranking officers from New York, Los Angeles and Baltimore. The will study how Israel has beefed up security and how they have attempted to extinguish the two year uprising.

The group will meet after they arrive with Internal Security Minister Uzi Landau and a number of senior Israeli police officials in Jerusalem before taking a security tour of the city, including bomb squad and forensic installations.

The delegation will be led by Chief Louis Anemone, the former number two at the New York police department.

The US police officials will visit police facilities in Tel Aviv on Tuesday, and northern police headquarters later in the week.
