Joan, I'd be curious how the unemployed people are acting...I have many friends, all professionals (mostly high-tech), in the San Jose area which are unemployed (for some time) and don't seem the least bit worried. Many received large severance packages and others have large gains in their homes, but I personally would be pretty nervous if I had to find a new job right now. I suppose a lot has to do with the too recent 90's boom and the certainty they feel things will 'get back to normal' soon, but I still don't get it...
