Hey.Kids, what's up? I haven't been on da net for about 2 weeks, ever since I took down my sat TV dish to rebuild the deck. Must be some sort of connection there.
BIG fire right across the hiway from me today; the next hill over from me, actually. I can still see about 7 hot spots and hear the bullldozers working. Fortunately, the wind was blowing the "right direction". Apparently CalTrans, the hiway dept., started it while doing fire supression work( Mowing dry grass, I figure), and then the pump they had wouldn't work, so they couldn't put it out. Radio said 3OO acres, and totally uncontained, but it looks to be under control from here. Don't know what is happening on the backside of the hill, but it looks like it is totally under control . Two choppers were working my pond; 4th year in a row, but the first time with 2 of them. My sons both came by, and we all went up to the ridge above the pond to watch. I saw a tail rotor get a little too close to the ground for my comfort, and also what looked like an accidental release over my place, or my son's next door. Dangerous work. God bless those guys.
