08:04 ET RSH RadioShack guides Q3 below consensus (28.95)
Consumer electronics retailer warns that Q3 results will not meet previously stated forecasts of 2-3% sales growth and $0.33 EPS. Now sees Q3 net of $0.23-$0.26 (Multex consensus $0.33). "Sales softened abruptly in August and despite some promotional activities to stimulate business, we have been unable to overcome the falloff in consumer demand." RadioShack said the financial weakness was across many categories. In light of today's announcement, the company will cancel its two-day investor conference scheduled for August 22-23.

09:09 ET RSH RadioShack says Q4 visibility uncertain (28.95) -- Update --
On call, says that due to sales trends in past three weeks, visibility into Q4 is uncertain; therefore, it won't provide Q4 guidance until it reports Q3 earnings on Oct. 22... separately, notes Q3 sales could be down 3-4% in total versus prior guidance for increase of 2-3%
