That being said I think the VIX is still stretched a bit too much below its 10 day moving average

Why would this be relevant? The VIX is a "fear factor" index based on buying of puts and calls, without any underlying intrinsic value. Because of this, why should it be expected that the trendlines and moving averages will mean anything in regards to the VIX?
