Joan,

The pattern I usually see is more of one where the smart money sits on the sidelines until the hype starts to wear off, then sells into strength. Those who bought into the hype tend to hang on too long when the trades go against them, and there are always those who will attempt to catch a falling knife. The end result is the institutional investors are able to realize much higher prices as they exit their positions.

The HD results actually looked pretty good on the surface this Q, but without a 10Q available, it's hard saying how they came up with the numbers. Gross margin was better than it has been in the past, which leads me to suspect some expenses didn't make it to the bottom line. Their filings are a joke as far as full disclosure is concerned, but it looks like a company can get away with just about anything as long as the political contributions keep coming in. At least for awhile.
