In the NY Times, the other day a woman was quoted "I want my 40 acres and a mule".

What price could adequately compensate somebody who had endured such brutality? There is no dollar amount. But, if there were living slaves, or 1st generation descendants, they would get millions. The problem is what do you give 5+ generation descendents? How much "Slave blood" must one have before being entitled? What about families like mine who did not move to America until well after the war? Where will the money come from? Should a tax be levied on all white people? If one has mixed white/slave blood, does the white part have to pay, while the slave part gets paid?
