What price could adequately compensate somebody who had endured such brutality? There is no dollar amount.

You might think that, but were these proceedings to continue, a solid dollar amount would eventually coalesce, wouldn't it. However enraged the people crying out for reparations may appear (and indeed, in most cases actually be)...and to whatever extent they might talk about governmental apologies and all sorts of symbolic gestures...you can bet every potentially redistributed dollar you have that were that fateful hour of negotiation to arrive, their leaders will quite unflinchingly be able to put an exact dollar amount, a price, on what amounts to a lump sum payment on a notional 'Injustice Annuity.' Be certain as well that decidedly unsentimental concepts such as the compounding of interest and the impact of inflation over time would similarly be factored in.

My greatest fear is that there aren't enough people with courage to speak out against this for fear of being labeled "racists," and by virtue of that - and possibly that alone - this measure will make far more headway than it should.

But what is most ironic to me is how closely, in an ideological sense and if realized, reparationists' efforts would be towards establishing a new form of indenture.
