Was up for the 3rd day on a roll and with expanding volume, albeit the V. was still below the 72.578M of June 6.<g>

ATT announced today a deal with AOL, which will give AT&T about $2.1 billion in cash and $1.5 billion in AOL stock

ATT has suffered from competition by the "baby bells" and cellular Cos.,which had been making inroads into its long distance business, but it announced today that it has started to offer local telephone service to residential customers in New Jersey (This is already the 8th State.<g>)

The stock had been selling close to "book" after reporting a $3.49 loss in the last Q. and having only $1.57 cash/share.<g>

But a good part of the loss, was $16.48 billion of "goodwill and franchise impairment costs".<g>

At any rate, the stock seems now to be on an UP-TREND, albeit its L term average is still above the M average.<g>(The present values are: 11.18; 10.44 & 10.49)
